  • Hardy-Weinberg simulation for more than 2 alleles

    Calculator

With this tool you can visualize populations with more than two alleles. The number of individuals per genotype or the allele frequencies are entered. If allele frequencies are entered, a corresponding equilibrium population is created.

  • Random Genetic Drift

    Calculator

This model is an adaptation of the classic experiment conducted by Peter Buri (1956), who documented genetic drift in laboratory populations of Drosophila. In the model, ten vials (populations) of flies are maintained with a constant population size and the proportions of a mutant allele are tracked over generations. Population size and initial allele ratio can be manipulated.

  • Random Genetic Effects

    Calculator

This model illustrates random genetic drift, bottleneck effects, and founder effects. In the simulated population there are three incompletely dominant alleles (red, yellow, blue) and heterozygous individuals appear as the combination of the two alleles. You can adjust the size of the mainland population and subject it to a bottleneck. Additionally, you can colonize two islands off the coast of the mainland with a random subset of the mainland's population.

  • ÖKOLOGIE-SEITE (página de ecología)

    Calculator

With this tool it is possible to calculate allele frequencies over time. Genotypes must be entered at the beginning, any selection advantage or disadvantage (1.0 = neither advantage nor disadvantage, 0.0 = genotype is lethal, 2.0 = selection advantage increased by 100%), the duration of a generation and a possible mutation rate.

  • (R)Evolution Simulator

    Websites

Project that develops simulators programmed in Python language that simulate the evolution processes of a species in a virtual world. “Each creature behaves as in the real world: it looks for the most comfortable habitat, eats and reproduces. On the contrary, if they are in an uncomfortable area, they will probably die.”

    Websites

Paper exercise that guides the student to calculate the frequencies of alleles and genotypes of an equilibrium population.

This model is an agent-based population genetics simulation. The program contains the tools to perform virtual experiments that violate all assumptions of the Hardy-Weinberg theory (small population, selection, mutation, migration and non-random mating).
